STORAGE DONE RIGHT
1. before you move in:
Insure your items.
Provide the lock for your unit. We do not keep keys to storage units. Losing your keys may require you to hire a locksmith.
Ensure not to store paint, oil, or gasoline or any other toxins or flammables.
2. store like a pro
Label all moving boxes with the items and the room they belong in.
Use plywood, boards or pallets to keep certain things off the floor.
Stack and store items for accessibility for unanticipated longer storage times.
Use plastic or other non-rusting hangers.
Use wardrobe boxes.
Prevent damage by moths by using cedar chips and or mothballs.
Disassemble tables and bed frames to allow for more storage space. Label all pieces for easier assembly later on.
Tape shut furniture and appliance doors.
Wrap mattresses in mattress bags or cover them with paper or cloth. Stand mattresses and sofas on end.
Pack larger pictures in special boxes. Wrap small pictures and stand them on their end.
Use cloth sheets, rather than plastic, to cover items to prevent moisture condensation.
Wax moisture sensitive wood furniture before storing it.
Avoid rusting by rubbing a small amount of machine oil on items like metal tools, bicycles, and similar items.
